REG. 15 MAY 07 I submit the following remarks on Kr. Eves'
letter:-
Para. 5.
Mr. Eves should be asked to produce the
tenders which he has obtained from reS-
-ponsible Contractors, also the specifica-
-tions and Bills of Quantities on which they
are based.
Para. 6.
It is absurd to compare the building of a
house costing $30,000 with the construction
of a railway costing $5,000,000. There is
a vast amount of detail in a house and there
are many trades involved which are dependent
on each other and a very small thing will
often delay progress with the whole work.
Very extensive alterations were made during
the course of the work, which occupied some-
-what less than 2 years.
The cost of the work was as follows:-
Quarters, including Servants'
Quarters...
Stable Building, including ap-
-proach road to same and widening portion of causeway.
Total
.$26,468.40
5,084.19
$31,552.59
